Approximately 6 miles on mainly minor roads and some steep hills, which may become muddy in bad weather. The walk crosses the border into County Louth where you can follow the life and times of Poets and Scholars of the South Armagh Area.

Begin the walk from Welcome Inn, Main Street, Forkhill (renowned for weekly traditional music sessions). Turn left up Main Street and continue for approximately ½ mile and take the first turn to the left past Fairgreen Stores. Continue for 1 mile along this track, which was the old funeral path to Urney Graveyard. At the end of the lane turn right and continue for ½ mile straight through the crossroads. Continue for approximately 1 mile to the junction and turn left onto Carrive Road, after a further 200 yards turn right.

Continue for 2 miles along Glendesha Road, which provides magnificent views of Slieve Gullion Mountain. At the end of Glendesha Road turn right onto Upper Road and carry on for another ½ mile before turning right onto Church Road. Travel for a further ½ mile to Forkhill Church of Ireland which is now a residential property and from here carry on toward Forkhill Village.
