Approximately 8 miles on minor roads with some steep hills.

This walk takes you through minor roads and country paths in the beautiful and scenic South Armagh Area where you will follow the life and times of the Poets and Scholars of the area.

The walk begins at Creggan Parish Church and Graveyard. From here follow the Glassdrummond Road for approximately 2.5 miles and take the first road on your right past Glassdrummond Lake onto Leeter Road. Continue along this road for approximately 1.5 miles and then take the first left onto Mounthill Road for another 1.5 miles. You will have a fine view of Roche Castle to your left before you come to a crossroads.

Take a left from here and continue for approximately 1.5 miles before turning left again. Pass through Ballsmill Village travelling 1 mile before taking left onto Cortreasla Road. After half a mile turn right onto Lurgan Road and travel past Redfellas Bar before taking the first turn to the left at Murray’s Road.

After 1 mile take the first turn to your right onto the Cregganbane Road and then continue for ¼ mile where you will come to a junction and turn left. At the bottom of the road turn right where you will arrive back at Creggan Parish Church and Graveyard.
