Archaeology

There is a wealth of archaeology to be explored with the area being inhabited by man for 6,000 years. There are a number of Neolithic burial chambers, such as 'Clontygora Court Tomb' in the Slieve Gullion area, which has stones over 2.4m tall flanking the entrance. Sites of interest range from megalithic tombs from the Neolithic period (4000-2000BC) to earthen and stone ring forts built in the early Christian period (500-1200AD)

Historical attractions also includes Killevy Old Church and the 17th century Moyry Castle built as an outpost to guard the gap of the North.
